Qantas gets initial nod on Emirates deal

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) has received a draft ruling from the the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) who provided  conditional approval for the proposed Emirates alliance but has described the tie up as providing material but not substantial benefits to Aussie customers.

The competition regulator has proposed a five year limit on the term of the deal and has raised concerns for trans-Tasman routes.

The ACCC is expected to hand down its final ruling in March next year. 
 
Qantas Airways booked a net loss of $244 million in the 2012 financial year.
