GWA to cut 230 jobs

Company News

GWA International Limited (ASX:GWA) will terminate 230 employees in a bid to achieve savings of around $4 million as they undertake a strategic repositioning of the business.

The cost cutting measures come as GWA combines its Dux Hot Water and GWA Bathrooms and Kitchens business, to form a larger multi-focused business.

GWA will also morph its Gliderol Garage Doors and Gainsborough business to service residential and commercial door and access needs.

GWA expects costs accrued in the restructuring will be offset by cost savings over the remainder of the current financial year.

The fixtures and fittings supplier says its trading performance has shown some improvement in the second quarter after a soft start to the trading year.

GWA achieved a net profit of $39.7 million in the 2012 financial year.
