Austal Limited
(ASX:ASB) has been awarded a $1.6 million fleet maintenance services contract for the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard.
The shipbuilder will support and maintain two patrol vessels, three vehicle-passenger ferries and a landing craft.
Austal says it will invest in maintenance facilities in the ports of Khasab and Shinas as it strives for growth of its Middle East commercial and defence product offering.
In the 2012 financial year, Austal posted a net profit of $11 million.
