Telstra awards $180M NBN roll-out contract

Telstra Corporation Limited (ASX:TLS) has awarded Service Stream Limited (ASX:SSM) a $180 million contract.

Australia’s largest telco has contracted Service Stream to work on the remediation of Telstra pit and pipe infrastructure connected to the roll-out of the National Broadband Network.

Under the contract Service Stream will undertake remediation activities for Telstra across Australia for an initial three year term. 

Renewal periods for the contract are subject to demand and performance and if executed could boost the value of the contract to $420 million. 

Telstra generated a net profit of $3.4 billion in the 2012 financial year.
