DJs Q1 sales lift

Company News

David Jones Limited (ASX:DJS) has lifted its first quarter sales by 0.3 per cent.

Sales totalled $415.6 million for the quarter up slightly from $414.3 million in the previous period.

Like-for-like sales and total sales remained the same. The results follow seven quarters of declining sales.

DJs says its home and electrical sales weakened but reported an improvement in the womenswear, menswear, shoes and beauty categories.

The department store expects the second quarter to follow a similar trend. The first quarter growth was smaller than rival Myer Holdings Limited (ASX:MYR), who reported a 1 per cent lift in sales for the same period.

David Jones generated a full year net profit of $101 million.
