Perseus Mining Gold production up 5%

Gold exploration play, Perseus Mining (ASX:PRU) has seen a 5 per cent increase in gold production for the March 2019 quarter compared to the prior corresponding period.

It produced 67,144 ounces which included 44,680 ounces from the Edikan gold mine in Ghana and 22,464 ounces of gold from the Sissingué gold mine.

This was in line with its expectations and places the company on track to achieve its June 2019 half year forecast of 130,000 to 150,000 ounces.

Perseus’s chief executive officer and managing director, Jeff Quartermaine says "this is the ninth consecutive quarter that Perseus has reported strong operating performances from its West African gold mines and over this time, the company has established a credible record of delivering on promises, by consistently achieving market production and cost guidance."

Perseus Mining (ASX:PRU) is trading 1.7 per cent higher at 46 cents.
