Rio awards $129M Cape Lambert contracts

Global miner Rio Tinto Limited (ASX:RIO) has awarded two separate contracts worth a total of $129 million to advance its Cape Lambert Port Expansion.  
 
Nomad Building Solutions Limited (ASX:NOD) has scored a $28.8 million contract to design, manufacture and install 60 modular residential houses. 
 
The project is due for completion late 2013 and intended to support the expansion of the Cape Lambert port and rail facilities in Western Australia. 
 
Southern Cross Electrical Engineer Limited (ASX:SXE) has won a $100 million contract for the supply and installation of the electrical and instrumentation package at the Cape Lambert facility. 
 
The Cape Lambert Port facility is currently undergoing an expansion which includes a new port facility, train unloading infrastructure, stockyard and new ship loading facilities. 
 
Rio Tinto reported a net profit of $6 billion in the first half of its 2012 financial year.
