Telstra Corporation Limited
(ASX:TLS) has escaped paying a fine for breaching privacy laws last year.
Industry regulator Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) ordered the telco to observe the new Telecommunications Consumer Protection Code's privacy clause.
Telstra failed to protect the personal details of over 700,000 customers with private information publicly accessible between March and December last year.
ACMA says Telstra has pro-actively remedied its systems.
In the 2012 financial year Telstra posted a net profit of $3.4 billion.
