Gold One South African strikes spread

Company News

Gold One International Limited (ASX:GDO) has advised that salary-motivated strikes have now spread to its recently acquired Ezulwini operation in South Africa.

The dual listed gold producer says it has obtained a court order to declare the industrial action from its workers as unprotected and unlawful.

Gold One believes the strikes are in conflict with a two year wage agreement signed in July this year and the company has enforced a ‘no work-no pay’ policy.

The company’s Modder East Operations in South Africa were struck with violence from former employees last month who are also demanding a salary increase.

Gold One International recorded a net loss of $4.1 million in the first half of the 2012 financial year.
