Woolworths Limited
(ASX:WOW) chairman James Strong will retire from his role in November this year after twelve and a half years with the company.
The supermarket chain has appointed Ralph Waters to succeed Mr Strong, who served as chairman for over 11 years.
Mr Waters has been on the company's board since January 2011 and is also currently the chairman of New Zealand company Fletcher Building.
During Mr Strong’s tenure Woolworth’s annual sales have more than doubled to nearly $57 billion, while its share price more than tripled in value.
Woolworths achieved a full year net profit of $1.82 billion for fiscal 2012.
