Syrah upgrades graphite concentrate

Company News

Syrah Resources Limited (ASX:SYR) has upgraded the graphite carbon concentrate of its Balama Graphite and Vanadium project to 97%.

The mineral explorer says that the potential exists to produce a graphitic carbon concentrate of 99% from the project.

The company’s Balama deposit is expected to have the capability to produce sufficient graphite to meet any projected global shortages in global flake graphite supply.

Results obtained in sample testing indicate a near ideal combination of different flake sizes to meet graphite requirements across all market sectors.

Syrah is rapidly progressing the Mozambique based Balama project, aiming to establish an initial mineral resource in the December quarter this year.

Syrah posted a half year net loss of $750, 000 on December 31, 2011.
