Qantas Airways Limited
(ASX:QAN) is reportedly set to announce a codeshare deal with Middle East based airline Emirates as soon as today.
According to numerous media reports Australia's biggest airline has been closing in on final talks and is expected to ink a deal shortly.
Qantas has not addressed the reports, rather responded by claiming it will only make an announcement when it has something material to announce.
Middle East airline Etihad Airways boosted its stake in its strategic alliance partner Virgin Australia Holdings Limited
(ASX:VAH) to 10 per cent earlier this week.
Qantas recorded a net loss of $244 million in the 2012 financial year.
