Company News

Singapore Telecommunications Limited’s (ASX:SGT) Australia arm Optus, has turned on its 4G service for customers in central Sydney, Perth and Newcastle yesterday with plans to deliver the network to Melbourne in the next two weeks followed by Brisbane and Adelaide early next year.

Telstra Corporation Limited (ASX:TLS)  has held the lead by providing the mobile network for almost 12 months, however Optus is now offering more competitive prices than its rival but is yet to extend its coverage regionally.

Telstra has recently announced its plans to spend $1.2 billion expanding and updating its spectrum to cover two-thirds of the population.

Singapore Telecommunications reported a full year net profit of $3.05 billion.
