Downer EDI Limited
(ASX:DOW) has won a $70 million contract to work on the Mt Mercer Wind Farm in Victoria.
The engineering services company has been awarded the contract from Meridian Energy Australia.
Under the contract Downer will work over the next two years to design and construct the electrical and civil works of the wind farm from December 2012.
The wind farm is expected to provide enough energy to service the electricity needs of the Ballarat community.
Downer reported a full year net profit of $112.9 million in the 2012 financial year.
