Rio Tinto Limited
(ASX:RIO) is putting a selection of rare pink, red and blue diamonds on sale. The Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender 2012 will be previewed around the world this month and next and has been largely sourced from Rio’s Argyle Diamond Mine in Western Australia.
This collection includes 56 single pink diamonds, including two red diamonds and 19 lots of blue diamonds.
Rio advises that its wholly owned Argyle Diamond Mine produces more than 90 per cent of the world's pink diamonds, with their value directly related to their rarity.
Rio reported a net profit of $6 billion in the first half of its 2012 financial year.
