Watpac Limited
(ASX:WTP) says it has been selected as the preferred contractor to design and construct the new $55 million Municipal Building for the City of Greater Dandenong in Victoria.
The new five-storey building will house the city's new administration offices, public library, council chamber, community meeting rooms and retail stores.
Watpac says this is a landmark project and one of the City of Greater Dandenong’s most significant infrastructure projects to date.
The project is being designed to achieve five-star Green Star design and due to be finished by the end of next year.
In the first half of its 2012 financial year Watpac generated a net profit of $4.9 million.
