Ceramic Fuel Cells upbeat on UK market

Company News

Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (ASX:CFU) says it is set to benefit from an increase in the UK feed in tariff for micro combined heat and power products.

The dual listed company is a developer of small generators that use fuel cell technology to convert natural gas to electricity and heat.

Ceramic Fuel Cells says it welcomes the UK Government’s announcement, which will see customers receive payments for the use of its BlueGen product.

BlueGen is the first and currently only fuel cell micro combined heat and power product to receive certification under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme and to be eligible for the UK feed in tariff.

The new tariffs are expected to boost the accessibility of BlueGen units to more homeowners, community energy groups, small businesses and house builders.

Ceramic Fuel Cells announced the first UK installation of a BlueGen unit at the end of last month.

In the first half of the 2012 financial year Ceramic Fuel Cells booked a net loss of $12.5 million.
