Inghams plans to build $46m hatchery

Poultry producer, Inghams (ASX:ING) has announced plans to build a new $46 million poultry hatchery in Victoria.

The company says the new hatchery will replace an existing facility and improve productivity and support expected growth in demand.

Ingham Chief Executive, Jim Leighton says the investment demonstrates the company's commitment to stakeholders in supporting infrastructure projects that deliver growth.

The new hatchery is expected to be completed in 2020 and will employ 100 people during the construction period and 20 ongoing jobs when fully operational.

 Shares in Inghams (ASX:ING) closed 1.8 per cent lower to $4.36 yesterday.
