Explosives and fertiliser manufacturer Incitec Pivot Limited (ASX:IPL) has begun production at its ammonia plant in Moranbah in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
Initial tonnes of ammonium nitrate has been produced with imported ammonia.
Incitec says the project continues according to plan and will be brought on line in the fourth quarter of its financial year.
Separately, Incitec announced the appointment of Paul Brasher as chairman of the company who succeeds John Watson.
In the six months to 31 March, Incitec generated a net profit $139.8 million.
