Myer to open Darwin store June 26, 2012 10:25 AM

Myer Holdings Limited (ASX:MYR) has announced plans to build a new full-line department store in Casuarina Sqaure in Darwin.

A two-level 12,000 square metre store is expected to be completed by 2016. Myer’s chief says Darwin represents a significant growth area and saysit is committed to a program of new stores and refurbishments as well as seeking to maximise the productivity of floor space in all of its stores.

The department store giant recently unveiled its new store in Mackay Queensland and will open an additional two new stores in Victoria and Townsville in Queensland later this year.

Myer posted a first-half net profit of $88 million.
