Newsat signs $US30M satellite deal

Australian satellite company Newsat Limited (ASX:NWT) has signed a $US30 million contract with a South-Asian satellite reseller.

Under the deal NewSat will provide satellite transmission over Afghanistan.

NewSat’s founder says the region continues to be a growing market for communications particularly for its next generation Ka-band satellite.

The latest  contract brings the Jabiru pre-launch customer contracts total to over $US600 million.

In the first half of the 2012 financial year, NewSat generated a net profit of $497,000.
