Qantas Airways Limited
(ASX:QAN) has responded to the recommendations made by the Senate committee that fleets should only be grounded in the interests of safety.
Qantas says it's impractical and potentially unsafe to force airlines to submit a safety case to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the federal transport department before grounding its fleet.
The recommendation is in response to the airline grounding its entire fleet in October last year because of an industrial dispute.
Qantas reported a net profit of $42 million in the last half of 2011.
