Healthscope’s Northern Beaches Hospital opens as planned

Private healthcare group Healthscope (ASX:HSO) has announced the opening of its Northern Beaches Hospital today as planned.

The first patients will transfer to the new Hospital from Manly Hospital today, with patients from Mona Vale Hospital to transfer tomorrow.

In total, almost 150 patients will be transferred to the new hospital.

MD and CEO Gordon Ballantyne says the partnership between Healthscope, Northern Sydney Local Health District and the NSW Government has the potential to become a new model in healthcare delivery in Australia.

Shares in the company surged almost 20 per cent last week on news a private equity consortium had returned with a renewed takeover proposal.

Shares in Healthscope (ASX:HSO) are trading flat at $2.10.
