Origin rebounds to H1 profit

Company News

Origin Energy Limited (ASX:ORG) has rebounded to a first half profit of $794 million from a loss of $136 million the year before.

The energy company’s result was boosted by higher prices for its products and contribution from its recently acquired New South Wales electricity assets.

In the half year to December 31, 2011 revenue increased 42 per cent and EBITDA increased 547 per cent.

Origin has confirmed it expects its underlying profit to grow 30 per cent in the full 2012 financial year.

A fully franked interim dividend of 25 cents per share has been declared.
