Sonic Healthcare H1 profit increases 8%

Sonic Healthcare Limited (ASX:SHL) has posted an 8 per cent increase in its first half year profit.

The pathology and radiology provider reported a net profit of $146 million in the six months to December 31, 2011 up from $143 million in the previous year.   

The company said ongoing headwinds from the strong Australian dollar had softened the company’s results but did not impact underlying performance.

Sonic Healthcare also said it’s on track to deliver its full-year guidance of 10 to 15 per cent earnings growth.

Shares in the company closed 2.06 per cent higher yesterday at $11.38.
