JB Hi-Fi Limited (ASX:JBH) has posted a 9.4 per cent fall in net profit to $79.6 million for the six months to December 31.
The strong Australian dollar, discounting and category deflation in laptops, digital cameras and flat screen televisions all impacted gross margins. Higher occupation costs also pushed up costs.
Total sales from JB Hi-Fi and Clive Anthony stores in Australia and New Zealand rose 5.5 per cent to $1.77 billion. Sales from JB Hi-Fi stores open for at least a year fell 2.2 per cent.
A fully franked interim dividend of 49 cents will be payable on March 9.
