Fairfax Media Limited’s (ASX:FXJ) Sydney Morning Herald weekday sales have fallen almost 12 per cent year on year. Sales for The Age on weekdays dropped six per cent.
The News Limited flagship paper The Australian was one of the few papers to increase sales, up 3.5 per cent year on year for the weekday edition.
The figures, released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations show that newspaper circulation fell by 4 per cent in the three months to the end of December compared to the previous corresponding period.
Fairfax Media reported a net loss of $390 million in the 2011 financial year.
