BHP gives Boom another deal

Company News

Boom Logistics (ASX:BOL) says BHP Billiton Limited (ASX:BHP) has nominated the crane company as the successful bidder for a five-year deal at the Olympic Dam operations.

Terms and conditions haven’t been finalised between the two parties.

BHP and Boom have an established relationship: the miner awarded Boom a three-year contract last July, to supply crane service to the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance.

The crane accident that took the life of a worker at BHP Billiton’s Port Headland operations last July was also a Boom crane. At the time, the company said it was a tragedy and it was investigating the cause.

BHP reported a net profit of $22.3 billion in the 2011 financial year.
