Galaxy on track for Q1 production

Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX:GXY) says the commissioning of its Jiangsu Plant is on track and first production is expected in the current quarter.

The lithium mining, chemicals and battery company’s wholly owned plant is located in China.  

Managing Director Iggy Tan says Galaxy is now half way through the cold commissioning process without any major defect issues being identified.

If no major defects are identified Galaxy expects the plant to be into hot commissioning by late February and the first lithium carbonate produced by the end of March.

Shares in Galaxy Resources gained 2.38 per cent yesterday, closing at $0.86.

In the 2011 financial year Galaxy Resources booked a net loss of $91.59 million.
