Galaxy completes third shipment to China

Company News

Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX:GXY) has completed its third spodumene shipment to China as it moves to start up its wholly-owned lithium carbonate plant.

The lithium mining, chemicals and battery company says the shipment will also be used to commission the ship unloading and over-land conveyor system to the plant.

Managing Director Iggy Tan says the plant is advantaged as it is close to unloading infrastructure, as opposed to current Chinese lithium carbonate producers who are generally inland.

Once complete, the plant’s production of battery grade lithium carbonate is set to make it the largest producer in the Asia Pacific region and the fourth largest in the world.

Galaxy maintains a bullish outlook on global lithium demand and is positioning itself to be involved in every step of the lithium supply chain.

In the 2011 financial year Galaxy Resources recorded a net loss of $91.59 million.
