OGL mine campaigners out of touch

Company News

The Queensland Resources Council says campaigners opposed to the reopening of OGL Resources Limited’s (ASX:OGL) Ebenezer Coal Mine are out of touch.

The chief executive of the peak body for the mining industry, Michael Roche says mining is significant to the town of Ipswich, near where the mine operates, and gives the economy a boost.

More than 2,500 people in the town relied on the mining industry for their jobs last financial year.

Campaigners have launched a Supreme Court bid to halt the reopening of the mine.

OGL reported a net loss of $1 million for the half year to June 30, 2011.
