Qantas reviews inflight food business

Company News

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) has confirmed it’s reviewing its catering business amid speculation the airline could be looking to sell a part of it.

A source has told Fairfax Media Qantas is interested in selling the asset and is understood to have conducted talks with potential buyers.

Qantas has denied the claims and says its premium catering unit Q Catering and frozen-meal specialist Snap Fresh are not up for sale and the airline continues to invest in the businesses.

In 2005 Qantas unsuccessfully tried to find a buyer to offload its catering division for up to $400 million.

In the 2011 financial year Qantas reported a net profit of $249 million.
