Winemakers shun AGL

Company News

Winemakers in the Hunter Valley are set to expel AGL Energy Limited (ASX:AGK) from their ranks because of its coal seam gas exploration.

The Hunter Valley Wine Industry Association (HVWIA) has already passed the resolution.

The president says there’s no evidence that the mining and wine industries can co-exist.

AGL had been a member since 2010.

In the 2011 financial year AGL Energy posted a net profit of $559 million.
