Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) chief Alan Joyce says proposed changes to the Qantas Sale Act would mean job cuts and threaten the profitability of the airline.
Mr Joyce has been speaking at a parliamentary inquiry in Canberra this morning, receiving a hostile reception.
Labor Senator Doug Cameron told ABC Radio that Mr Joyce would be wishing he wasn’t at the hearing today. Mr Cameron has been one of the airline chief’s toughest critics.
The inquiry will also hear from Virgin Australia executives and the three unions in dispute with Qantas.
In the 2011 financial year Qantas reported a net profit of $249 million.
