Telstra sets up in India

Company News

Telstra Corporation Limited (ASX:TLS) is putting down roots in India following an international subsidiary being granted licences for long distance internet and telephone services. That’s according to Fairfax Media.

Reportedly, Telstra will set up services in seven cities.

The group managing director says the licenses will allow Telstra to set up across Asia, into India and even further afield.

The telco didn’t reveal how much it paid for the licences.

Telstra posted a net profit of $3.25 billion in the 2011 financial year.
