News president backs James Murdoch

Company News

News Corporation (ASX:NWS), (NASDAQ:NWSA) president and chief operating officer Chase Carey has backed director James Murdoch despite a protest vote against him.

35 per cent of voting stock voted against the re-election of James Murdoch, a backlash in response to the UK phone hacking scandal.

Mr Carey says Mr Murdoch has done a good job and News isn’t contemplating any changes.

The junior Murdoch will make another appearance before a UK parliamentary inquiry on November 10.

News Corp booked a net profit of just under $2.7 billion in the year to June 30.
