Fisher & Paykel Healthcare files patent infringement complaint in the US against ResMed

Medical device company, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare (ASX:FPH) has filed a patent infringement complaint in the US against ResMed (ASX:RMD).

The company is seeking an exclusion order from the US International Trade Commission (ITC) to prevent the importation of Resmed's AirFit P10 range of nasal pillow masks in the United States.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare allege the masks infringe five of its patents, and is seeking a permanent exclusion order and a cease and desist order from the ITC.

He says the company takes infringement of intellectual property rights very seriously.

Shares in Fisher & Paykel (ASX:FPH) closed down 0.88 per cent to $13.60 yesterday
