Crown set to unveil casino upgrade

Australia's largest casino operator, Crown Limited (ASX:CWN) will today unveil its newly revamped Crown Casino in Melbourne.

The $200 million upgrade is geared towards attracting high rollers and capitalising on the growth of Asian gamblers and tourists.

The launch will be attended by James Packer, who is a 46 per cent stakeholder in Crown, and comes ahead of the Melbourne Cup Carnival this weekend.  

The company is also currently undertaking a $350 million expansion of its Burswood Casino in Perth which is due to be completed this time next year.

Crown’s annual general meeting will also today be held in Melbourne.

In the 2011 financial year Crown boosted its net profit by 15 per cent to $336 million.
