Company News

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) has reportedly strengthened its relationship with Rio Tinto Limited (ASX:RIO) by extending a contract with the mining giant for the next three years.

According to the Australian Associated Press, Qantas and Rio have inked a new deal that will see the airline continue to provide major air services for the miner’s local and international operations.

Both companies have been linked for more than 10 years and Rio says the long-term agreement will facilitate growth.

In the 2011 financial year Qantas increased its net profit by 115 per cent to $249 million.
