Leighton $400m pipeline contract

John Holland Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leighton Holdings Limited (ASX:LEI) has been awarded a contract to construct a $400 million pipeline in Central Queensland.

The project involves the construction of 136 kilometres of buried pipeline that will carry 45,000 megalitres of water a year from the proposed Connors River Dam to the Bowen Basin.

The project includes the construction of a reservoir, several bored and open creek crossings, as well as several watercourse and road crossings and storages.

Leighton Holdings reported a net loss of $406 million for year to June 30, 2011.
