Macquarie Radio profits but no word on expansion

Company News

Macquarie Radio Network (ASX:MRN) has reported an annual net profit after tax of $5.9 million, a drop from the previous year’s $6.16 million.

The network expressed interest in buying Fairfax Media Limited’s (ASX:FXJ) radio division in May, as well as buying eight commercial radio stations from the Smart Radio Network in Queensland.

But in its annual report today, it said disclosing information on the potential purchases would result in unreasonable prejudice to the consolidated entity.

The network will pay a fully franked dividend of 5 cents per share.
