The ACCC chief has defended his link to News Corp (ASX:NWS). That’s according to a report by the Australian Financial Review.
The competition regulator and former climate change advisor Rod Sims has defended his stake of around $1 million in RM Williams Agricultural Holdings, whose largest shareholder is a News Corp subsidiary. He says he intends to sell the shares within the coming months.
The ACCC is due to make a decision on the proposed merger of Foxtel, which is part owned by News Corp, and Austar. Mr Sims says there’s no conflict of interest.
News Corp booked a net profit of just under $2.7 billion in the year to June 30.
