Downer, Clough win $600M contract

Company News

Downer EDI Limited (ASX:DOW) has advised that its Clough Limited (ASX:CLO) Downer 50:50 joint venture has been awarded a $600 million contract from Fluor.

The engineering company says the contract is for the construction of pipelines, compression facilities and infrastructure for a part of Santos Limited’s (ASX:STO) Gladstone liquefied natural gas project in Queensland’s Surat Basin.

CEO Grant Fenn says the contract represents a breakthrough for the company’s recently established coal seam gas division into Queensland’s expanding coal seam gas industry.

Work on the project is due to start in September.

In August Downer EDI booked a net loss of $27.7 million for the 2011 financial year.
