Reports have emerged speculating on what name Qantas Airways Limited
(ASX:QAN) will give to its new premium Asian carrier.
Last month Australia’s biggest airline announced plans to tap into the growth potential in the Asian region as part of a restructure of its international operations.
Fairfax Media says the airline is attempting to trademark "RedQ", which has emerged as the most likely name for the new ultra-premium airline targeting executives travelling in Asia.
Qantas has told Fairfax that it is still considering the options and a final decision has not as yet been made.
Yesterday reports were circulating that the airline’s Asia expansion may be delayed until 2013 until the necessary approvals are secured.
In the 2011 financial year Qantas boosted its profit by 115 per cent to $249 million.
