OZ Minerals Limited (ASX:OZL) plans to start construction at its newly acquired Carrapateena copper and gold project in South Australia by 2015.
Presentation slides from the company’s Asian Roadshow reveal that the project is currently undergoing exploration drilling and option studies for mining in preparation for a feasibility study in 2013.
Pending the results of the feasibility study construction could start in mid-2015.
Earlier this year OZ Minerals paid $US250 million for Carrapateena. The deposit is understood to be similar to the company’s flagship Prominent Hill mine, also in South Australia.
Last month OZ Minerals said that its first half net profit had sank 72 per cent to $113.9 million.
