Telstra to gain $4.7B from NBN

Company News

An independent expert has found that Telstra Corporation Limited (ASX:TLS) could gain $4.7 billion under the proposed plan to implement the national broadband network.

Independent expert Grant Samuel has recommended Telstra shareholders vote in favour of the plan.

Australia’s largest telco says it is working closely with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission with a view to scoring acceptance of its structural separation before its annual general meeting.

The company’s proposed $11 billion NBN deal will be put to a shareholder vote at its AGM on October 18, 2011.

Last month Telstra posted full-year net profit of $3.25 billion.
