Qantas JBA with American Airlines

Company News

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) and American Airlines are on track for a Joint Businss Agreement (JBA).

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has proposed to grant authorisation for the JBA between the airlines, and says it considers the JBA would result in new and improved products and services, including improved schedules and connectivity.

The ACCC said it does not consider the JBA will have any anti-competitive effects, because the two airlines don’t provide any overlapping services.

The ACCC also recently authorised an alliance between Virgin Australia and Delta Airlines on routes between Australia and the US.

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) reported a net profit of $239 million in the six months to December last year.
