Mirabela Nickel Q2 sales jump 88%

Company News

Mirabela Nickel Limited (ASX:MBN) has boosted nickel sales by 88 per cent to 3,909 tonnes in the June quarter, compared to the quarter before.

In the three months to the end of June Mirabela recorded a 20 per cent increase in nickel in concentrate production, coming in at 3,395 tonnes.

In the same period cash costs also crept up 13 per cent to $US7.85 a pound.

Mirabela says this was largely because of the timing of smelter charges and a stronger Brazilian currency compared to the US dollar.

In the first half of its 2011 financial year, Mirabela Nickel booked a net loss of $46.9 million.
