Amcom to provide UWA with cloud cover

Telecommunications Company Amcom (ASX:AMM) will be one of the first companies to get the ‘cloud computing revolution’ started, having signed a $9 million contract with the University of Western Australia.

The three-year contract will provide the university with hundreds of computer servers.

Amcom currently has a database of 900 blue chip corporate and government customers. It owns more than 2,100 kilometres of fibre-optic network in Perth, Adelaide and Darwin.

In the second half of last year, Amcom reported a profit of $9.8 million.
