News Corporation’s
(ASX:NWS) James Murdoch has denied a statement from former employees that he had given mistaken evidence to British MPs regarding the News of the World phone hacking scandal.
The newspaper’s former editor and News International’s legal manager issued a statement saying they had warned James Murdoch there was evidence that he authorised a key payout to a victim.
Mr Murdoch told a parliamentary committee he did not know of the evidence when he approved a payout.
News Corp booked a net profit of just under $1.5 billion in the first half of its 2011 financial year.
